Kids Fishing Derby: A Day of Fun & Family Tradition!

Event Highlights:
Start a new family tradition with the Kids Fishing Derby, a fun and educational day by the water! Volunteers will teach kids the basics of baiting, casting, hooking, and even cooking their freshly caught fish. With the help of Trout Unlimited, participants can have their fish cleaned and stored, making this a complete fishing experience.

What’s Included:

  • A chance to fish in a scenic setting along Sugarland Run.
  • Limited fishing poles and bait available for use.
  • Explore the restored stream section while enjoying a relaxing morning with family.

Important Notes:

  • All participants under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Teens and adults age 16+ require a valid Virginia State Fishing License to fish.
  • Adults are not allowed to fish during kids’ fishing hours. Extended fishing times will be announced by staff.
  • Wear shoes that can get wet or muddy (sandals are not permitted).
