• Van Buren Street/Herndon Parkway Intersection

  Van Buren Street/Herndon Parkway Intersection 

  SCOPE:   Improvements made to the intersection include two left turn lanes on west bound Herndon Parkway and a right turn lane was added to east bound Herndon Parkway, improved pedestrian crosswalks with ADA pedestrian signals.  In addition, a right turn lane was constructed on north bound Van Buren Street.

  TIMELINE: Construction began in Spring 2022 and was completed in Spring 2023.

• Van Buren Complete Streets

  SCOPE: This project provides a “complete streets” enhancement to Van Buren Street along approximately one-half mile from Old Spring Street to Herndon Parkway. Improvements include:

  • Addition of curb-and-gutter
  • Widening of travel lanes to 15 feet
  • On-and off-road bike lanes in each direction
  • Addition of five-foot wide sidewalks
  • Addition of crosswalks and traffic signalization at Alabama Drive
  • Improvement of storm water management facilities
  • Relocation of overhead utility poles

   TIMELINE: Construction began Spring 2022 and was completion in Spring 2023.
