Base Sewer Consumption Rate

The base sewer rate is $8.93 per 1,000 gallons. This charge is based on water consumed.

Peak Water Rate

The peak water rate is $6.94 per 1,000 gallons.

All water consumed during the peak use periods in excess of the average consumption of the preceding two winter quarter billing periods shall be charged an additional amount of $4.08 per 1,000 gallons. This peak use period charge shall be applied in addition to the base water charge.

Average consumption of the preceding two winter quarter billing periods is defined as the average of any consumption for quarterly billing periods reflected in bills issued during the months of December through May.

Peak use period consumption is defined as any consumption for quarterly billing periods reflected in billed issued during the months of June through November.

Q: Why does the Town bill for peak usage and how can it save me money?

A (EXAMPLE): If you are a customer that uses more water during the warmer months of the year (watering lawns, washing cars, etc.), you would save $0.82/1 thousand gallons on sewer usage for fiscal year 2022. This is because during non-peak billing months the consumption gallons for water and sewer are charged equally. If you use 21 thousand gallons of water ($3.21/1 thousand gallons) then you are billed for 21 thousand gallons of sewer ($6.28/1 thousand gallons). During peak billing months, the sewer usage charges are capped at the average consumption of water of the preceding two winter quarter billing periods. If the same usage occurred -21tgal- during a peak billing month, and the winter quarterly average was -15tgal-, this means that 6tgal would be charged at the peak rate of $5.46/1 thousand gallons instead of $6.28/1 thousand gallons. In this example, $4.92 would be saved during a peak billing month.

Sewer Consumption Charges - Peak Water period

There shall be no charge for sanitary sewer service for water used in excess of the average consumption of the two preceding winter quarter billing periods.
