Equipment Operator - Greens Worker

The purpose of this position is to maintain the golf course grounds, in accordance with objectives and work plans.  Employees in this classification perform skilled grounds maintenance work.  Position is responsible for mowing grounds and trimming, as well as a wide variety of maintenance tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Operates according to safety instructions a variety of golf course maintenance equipment used in the mowing and maintenance of greens, tees, collars, fairways and rough.
 
2. Trims shrubs and trees; maintains and repairs sand traps; aerates; applies grass seed and fertilizer according to instructions.  Blows and clears leaves.

3. May maintain division files.

4. Hand-waters dry spots on greens; waters and maintains flowers.

5. Moves tee markers; picks up trash and debris; assists with changing cups.

6. Fills water in ball washers.

7. Repairs tee and fairways divots; paints tee markers and signs.

8. Maintains cleanliness of maintenance area and bathrooms; maintains parking lot.

 9. Performs other duties as required.

Position is considered “essential personnel”; defined as staff who are required to report to their designated work location during weather-related or other emergencies, even when town offices are closed or normal operations are suspended.

Minimum Education, Training, Experience and Special Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• Supplemented by experience in grounds or landscape management strongly preferred
• Possession of pesticide application license strongly preferred, or the ability to obtain within six months of employment
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable record

Hours:  

Monday - Friday (Some Weekends) 6am - 2:30pm / 5am - 8am

Due to the nature of a government providing services to the public all duties of this position are required to be fulfilled at the designated worksite in the town. No remote work is available.
