The Town of Herndon boasts a unique balance of strong sense of community and being a next generation small town and each employee is pivotal in providing exceptional services to our citizens. The Town has an immediate need for a Swim Instructor in the Parks and Recreation department. As a Swim Instructor, you will teach swimming lessons at the town’s indoor aquatic facility. 

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Lesson plans: Developing and implementing lesson plans

• Instruction: Demonstrating proper swimming techniques and providing individualized instruction

• Feedback: Encouraging students and providing feedback to help them improve their skills

• Safety: Ensuring a safe and clean environment for students, enforcing pool rules, and responding to emergencies

• Communication: Communicating with students, parents, and supervisors

• Record keeping: Maintaining accurate records of student attendance and progress, and reporting accidents and incidents to management

Desired Qualifications:

Experience teaching learn-to-swim classes to youth and adults in indoor aquatic center or outdoor facility

Strong swimmer and passionate about water safety and teaching others love of aquatics.

American Red Cross First Aid/CPR and Water Safety Instructor current certifications

Bi-lingual in English/Spanish highly desirable.

Work Location: 
• 814 Ferndale Ave (Herndon Community Center)
• Due to the nature of a government providing services to the public all duties of this position are required to be fulfilled at the designated worksite in the town. No remote work is available.

Hours: 
Monday-Thursdays 5pm-7:30pm; Saturdays 9am-12pm
