Public Safety
The Herndon Police Department is dedicated to providing professional police service. We believe the highest moral and ethical standards are the cornerstone of our agency, and all members are expected to adhere to these standards. Our employees are our most important asset, and only through teamwork, mutual respect, and cooperation can the community be professionally served.
Motivation, diversity and quality are determining factors in our capability to achieve professional service delivery; therefore, we seek to recruit and retain individuals who possess these superior attributes. The agency provides ongoing training and development of its personnel to ensure motivation, creativity, dedication and professionalism, which contributes to an atmosphere of job satisfaction, enthusiasm, security and personal career advancement. The men and women of the Department who proudly display the shoulder emblem identifying them as Herndon police officers are proven worthy through a rigorous recruitment process, many hours of academy and in-house training, and dedicated support. These individuals are mission true and committed to serving the Herndon community.
The Herndon Police Department currently has an authorized strength of 57 sworn officers and 15 support personnel. The Department values our many partnerships with the community such as the Herndon Police Citizen's Support Team (HPCST). The HPCST is made up of highly motivated men and women that spend many hours assisting the police department at special Town and community events. If you would like to join our team, as a police officer, civilian member or volunteer, please contact us.
