Decals
Motor Vehicle Decals
All motor vehicles are required to display a 2010 decal. Decals are renewed yearly by November 15th. A Town of Herndon motor vehicle decal is required for all motor vehicles, trailers and semi trailers normally garaged, stored, or parked within the Town limits for more than 30 days. If you are a new resident and need to fill out a vehicle decal application, click here and either bring it in or mail it. Motor Vehicle Decals Fees
CASH OR CHECK (CREDIT AND DEBIT CARDS CANNOT BE USED FOR DECAL PURCHASES)
Effective July 1, 2010 - Passenger cars and trucks 4,000 1bs or less gross weight cost is $25.00
Passenger cars and trucks over 4,000 lbs in gross weight cost is $32.00
Motorcycles are $12.00
Small trailer/boat trailer gross weight less than 5,000 lbs are $8.00
Larger trailer/boat trailer gross weight greater than 5,000 lbs $25.00

Military (active duty with current military ID) $ 1.00
Transfer (sticker or receipts must be presented) $ 1.00
Decals purchased after April 15th are half price.

Personal Property tax
The Town of Herndon does not assess a personal property tax. Residents of the Town are required to file with the County of Fairfax. For additional information contact Fairfax County at (703)222-8234.
